Technical Cooperation Programmes Regional training workshops for government officials on implementation and reporting under the Convention The Division convenes regional or sub-regional training workshops to promote women’s human rights through the enhanced implementation of the Convention at the domestic level. The workshops aim to enhance the capacity of government officials to implement the Convention at the national level, including preparation of States parties’ reports under article 18 of the Convention and follow-up to the concluding comments of the Committee.They clarify the extent of implementation of Convention provisions, identify gaps and challenges, as well as new strategies and opportunities for implementation, in particular in the follow-up to the Committee’s concluding comments. Former and current members of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women serve as facilitators and trainers at the workshops, together with academic and other experts, and staff of the Division. Since 1999, the Division has held regional and national training workshops for government officials in Benin, New Zealand, Thailand, Tanzania, The Bahamas, Chile, Cambodia and Jordan.
