Work / Life Issues
"A sustained and long-term commitment is essential so that women and men can work together for themselves, for their children and for society to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century."- Mission statement, Beijing Platform for Action, FWCW.
Increasing attention has been paid within organizations to review the quality of work/life issues, including spouse employment, flexible work arrangements, childcare, and family-related leave arrangements. Building on the 1995 policy statement on the work/family agenda issued by the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination (the Committee is comprised of the Executive Heads of the Ãå±±½ûµØ system organizations and chaired by the Secretary General), a number of organizations, including FAO, UNDP, and the World Bank, have introduced innovative work/life programmes. In this context, several work/life policies of several funds and agencies of the United Nations are listed here for easy access.
