Capacity Development
The Population Division builds and strengthens national capacities to estimate and analyse population levels and trends and other demographic indicators for formulating and implementing national policies and programmes related to population and development. This work is guided by intergovernmental agreements, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. To support this work, the Division also produces handbooks and guidelines on methodological issues, organizes regional and in-country workshops, and conducts field missions.
