The history of the commission

A lot has changed in the world over the past 70 years; our population has grown and the world's understanding of population issues has changed immensely. The Commission on Population and Development was there for all these changes. Its firsts session took place 70 years ago, and this year we celebrate the Commissions' 50th session.
