The Millennium Campus Network (MCN) and the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) are proud to present the Class of 2024, an ambitious program to help make the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI principles a reality.  Millennium Fellows were selected from a record-breaking 52,581 applicants to join the Class of 2024, hailing from 6,000+ universities worldwide.  The Class of 2024 consists of 4,000+ driven undergraduates at in 48 nations.  

Millennium Fellows across the world will embark on a semester-long journey to build the skills necessary for a career rooted in the Ãå±±½ûµØSustainable Development Goals. In addition to poring over the Millennium Fellowship curriculum in tandem with Fellowship cohorts on their university campuses, Millennium Fellows each undertake a social impact project - either as individuals or in groups - to advance one or more of the 17 SDGs and 10 UNAI principles.  Here is a snapshot of the important projects the Class of 2024 has taken on:   

At Bucerius Law School, in Germany, student leaders are taking on an ambitious project to develop a cost-free summer ¡°Climate Law School¡± (SDG 13, Climate Action) to address the growing need to train law students in the German-speaking world in their own language, to ensure the next generation of lawyers is empowered to write and employ the law to ensure a sustainable future.

Leaders at Griffith University Gold Coast Campus, Australia, have developed a project called ¡°Cook and Connect¡± to address SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) to bring together generations - from elders in their community to the university students in their classes - by tapping into the power of parallel play to support not only the physical well-being of participants through nutritious meals, but also enhance well-being through social and emotional connections.

In addition to group projects, individual Fellows will collectively advance all 17 SDGs and 10 UNAI principles. Whether it be creating smart sunglasses for users with visual impairments through the project ¡°Indoors Sensory Assistive Sunglasses¡± at Harare Institute of Technology in Zimbabwe (SDG 10, Reduced Inequality), or solving for frequent flooding events through the ¡°Flood Proof Smart House Project¡± at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh (SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities), the Class of 2024 is building meaningful solutions to challenges in their communities. 

Of the more than 52,000 applications received toward the Millennium Fellowship this year, these projects represent a mere fraction of the projects undergraduates are carrying out on their campuses and communities to realize the sustainable development goals in tangible and innovative ways.

MCN is also celebrating a new partnership in 2024 by launching The Coach Dream It Real x Coachtopia Scholarship.  The Scholarship supports Millennium Fellows from historically underrepresented communities with a passion for sustainability who are interested in learning about how we can build a better future for our planet by advancing progress towards a circular economy.
