Focusing on environmental issues from a global perspective, the NYU Shanghai Sustainable Development Conference took place on Saturday, 16 April 2016 with an aim to share information about current environmental issues and practical, evidence-based solutions.

NYU Shanghai students recognize that 2016 is a pivotal year for sustainable development, as world leaders are uniting in an effort to establish different kinds of social and economic structures to manage climate change. Green Shanghai, NYU Shanghai's organization for environmental issues and sustainability, carefully crafted a noteworthy lineup of experts and influencers who armed the participants with new strategies, insights and guidelines for how they can be part of the change.

The NYU Shanghai's student organized conference provided a unique opportunity by bringing together stakeholders from academia, international agencies, NGOs, and ecological businesses to share practical solutions towards the achievement of more sustainable and inclusive societies.

One hundred fifty participants from all over Shanghai and the nearby cities attended the conference for an inspiring day of presentations, discussions and networking with peers and industry leaders who are creating opportunities for a sustainable future.

This conference, led by Nofar Hamrany, Green Shanghai's president, was part of GoGreen Week, a NYU Shanghai student-led initiative launched in 2015 that is a collaboration between Green Shanghai and Animal Rights & Herbivores Society. The initiative aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and sustainable solutions, and inspire others to take action, through a variety of events discussing animal protection, ecological businesses, environmental NGOs, food production, and sustainable development. Founded by?Nofar Hamrany?and?Omer Cohen, this year, the NYU Shanghai students working in partnership with the global NYU community, have organized GoGreen Week as a single NYU initiative with events happening on the university's three degree-granting campuses in Shanghai, Abu Dhabi and New York.
