There are many ways to approach the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One approach is in terms of human security, which is concerned with the root causes of various threats ranging from international conflicts to internal strife, climate-related disasters, health pandemics, food shortages and economic downturns.

To promote a better understanding of human security and to share relevant experiences as well as lessons learned, the United Nations Human Security Unit is organizing a high-level event on human security and its contribution to Agenda 2030 on Friday, 7 July 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Participants will address a broad range of topics related to the impact of human security on the SDGs at all levels. The event will feature a panel discussion as well as remarks from the President of the General Assembly, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Human Security.
