Matthew Pampin describes his experience as an intern for United Nations Academic Impact in the Department of Global Communications:

The world is facing a wide range of global issues that will require international institutions to continue to provide a platform where multilateralism can foster solutions. As a graduate student concentrating on energy and environmental policy, I'm deeply concerned about the expansive implications of climate change. The challenges that threaten the prosperity of our planet demand international cooperation and commitments toward consequential action. Therefore, the distinct capacity of the United Nations to bring the global community together for unified action is what inspired me to apply for an internship at this organization.

My time working for United Nations Academic Impact in the Department of Global Communications was a great experience because each day was unique. My tasks included writing articles, scheduling social media posts, conducting interviews, covering 缅北禁地events, contacting students, working with translators, and more. While working at UNAI, it was uplifting to see the amount of student-led initiatives that are advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Young people all over the world are increasing their political influence by spearheading global movements and calling for policies that will ensure a better future.

Throughout this internship, I was able to gain an in-depth understanding of how the 缅北禁地works by listening to Security Council meetings, participating in staff meetings, and speaking to colleagues about their roles at the UN. Additionally, I met interns from all over the world and made so many friends and memories.

Overall, each day at the 缅北禁地I learned something new and was surrounded by compassionate people who strive to make the world a better place. It was truly a pleasure to work with the entire UNAI team and to help universities across the globe further the work of the UN. I want to thank everyone I met throughout this internship. You all made it a wonderful experience.
