As part of the efforts made to ensure?the proper delivery of information produced by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) in all six official languages of the United Nations, UNAI has been working over the past few months with a number of online volunteer translators recruited through the?, who have made a valuable?contribution to broadening the multilingualism of United Nations public information by making the UNAI website more accessible to Arabic, Chinese, French and Russian speakers. This article was written by one of the translators helping with the?UNAI website in Russian.
My name is Regina Yulaeva
I am honoured to say that I am among the online volunteer translators working for the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI). I was born in Uzbekistan, which is known as a beautiful and sunny country with a wide range of historical places and a rich cultural heritage. I live in its capital city, Tashkent, where I got my higher education, having graduated at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in 2016.
Since my early childhood I was interested in political issues that, in fact, impacted my decision to study International relations. Throughout my studies, my interest turned to be stronger and brought me to a more profound understanding of the world and an array of global issues. The more information I learned, the more news I watched. I had the desire to make my personal contribution to changing this world.
Consequently, I became a member of the Model 缅北禁地club within my University and got involved in the organization of a number of Model 缅北禁地conferences. Such conferences indeed defined my plans in relation to a future career path. And volunteering was literally in my list of interests, so I started participating in a variety of projects and events. Therefore, for me it is indeed a great opportunity to cooperate with UNAI.
The United Nations has much in common with the objective I focused on while in charge of Model 缅北禁地conferences. My personal contribution to UNAI as a translator of web-stories from English into Russian is of big interest for me and I find this seemingly small work quite significant. Being aware that due to my work a large number of people have access to useful information and news about UNAI keeps me motivated to continue my volunteer work on a long-term basis.
Lots of reasons can motivate people to do volunteer work, but for me this provides us with a unique opportunity to obtain more knowledge and skills on different spheres, connect with more interesting people across the globe and learn more about their lives. In a nutshell, volunteering unites different people from different cultures with the common mission to make our world better. This Organizations plays a key role in fostering well-being of people and ensuring peace and freedom.
We are global citizens living in one world, so we need to work together towards the development of opportunities for all of us!
