1.a)?Says the used by UNICEF in its Introduction to the Convention on the Rights of the Child that the term 'charter' is used for particularly formal and solemn instruments, such as the treaty founding an international organization like the United Nations. Worth the mention that aside from the actual founding of the organization, the United Nations Charters defines the purposes and principles of the United Nations as well as its structure, mechanisms and procedures.
2.b) According to the?, the name 'United Nations' was coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt and was first used in the Declaration by United Nations?of 1 January 1942, during the Second World War, when?representatives of 26 nations?pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers.
3.a) As stated forty-six nations, including the four sponsors, were originally invited to the San Francisco Conference: nations which had declared war on Germany and Japan (...) One of these nations - Poland - did not send a representative because the composition of its new government was not announced until too late for the conference. Therefore, a space was left for the signature of Poland, one of the original signatories of the United Nations Declaration (...) The conference itself invited four other states - the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, newly-liberated Denmark and Argentina.
