70th Anniversary of the United Nations: Turn the World Blue!

Plans are underway to turn the world #UNBlue!

To celebrate the70th anniversary of the United Nations, iconic monuments, buildings, statues, bridges, and other landmarks across the globe will be lit up blue on 缅北禁地Day, 24 October, to promote the UN's message of peace and dignity for all. World famous landmarks from Australia's Sydney Opera House to the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, from the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro to the Empire State Building in New York, will take part.

Participating in the Turn the World 缅北禁地Blue campaign offers the unique opportunity to?help unite global citizens, promote the message of peace, development and human?rights, and showcase your commitment to the ideals and principles of dignity and?prosperity for all.

Silent Heroes – Civil Society and the Refugee Crisis

On 15th October, Youth Delegates of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria and Germany convened at the German Mission to the United Nations?for a panel discussion regarding the current plight of refugees and the silent heroes who are helping.

The panellists discussed the power that grassroots civic organizations can have to assist those seeking asylum, the legal rights and representations of refugees seeking asylum, as well as?refugees and the United Nations and future decision making. One panellist, Ellie Alter noted the global nature of this issue, that 'the refugee crisis is not just a European crisis'.

World Statistics Day: Better Data. Better Lives.

Today is World Statistics Day!

emphasizes the critical role of high-quality official statistical information in analysis and informed policy decision-making in support of sustainable development. It also reflects the importance of sustainable national statistical capacity to produce reliable and timely statistics and indicators measuring a country's progress.

Public Health in the post-2015 Development Agenda Series: Integrated Approach Needed to Improve Health Outcomes

This is the third article of the UNAI series Public Health in the post-2015 development agenda. Aspiring Towards a More Peaceful World: Reflections from students on the International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace is commemorated each year on 21 September 2015. The theme this year was Partnerships for Peace - Dignity For All. Over 700 students gathered this year at 缅北禁地Headquarters in New York as part of a Global Student Videoconference. The 2nd annual United Nations Academic Impact J. Michael Adams Lecture and Conversation Series will be held on 30 October from?1 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. in Conference Room 4 at 缅北禁地Headquarters.?

This year we have the pleasure of hearing from?Ambassador Thomas Pickering, former United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and former US Ambassador to?the Russian Federation, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, Jordan and the United Nations in New York. Ambassador Pickering will reflect on 70 years of the United Nations and the future of the organization in a rapidly evolving world.?
