Launch of the EU-Ãå±±½ûµØGlobal Terrorism Threats Facility

On 8 April 2022, the EU-Ãå±±½ûµØGlobal Terrorism Threats Facility was launched in NY by Mr. Raffi Gregorian, Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General, UNOCT and Mr. Olivier Onidi, Deputy Director-General, European Commission. Joining the co-hosts were H.E. Mr. Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN, H.E. Mr. Georges Nzongola-Ntalaja, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the Ãå±±½ûµØand H.E. Mr. Harold Adlai Agyeman, Permanent Representative of Ghana to the UN.

The three-year Global Facility establishes within the Ãå±±½ûµØsystem a new modality for technical assistance on counter-terrorism. Its goal is to provide rapid response support to Member States facing an evolving terrorist threat or situation. It seeks to help them increase their capacities to detect, prevent, counter, respond to and investigate evolving terrorist threats, while ensuring respect for international law, human rights, and the rule of law.
